Cephalosporin cpds., resistant to beta lactamase enzymes - with good activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria

Cephalosporin cpds. (I) are claimed as new in which R is H or a gp. R111-CO in which R111 is cyanomethyl. trifluoro-methul, phenylmethyl, phenoxymethyl, thienylmethyl, tetrazolylmethyl, HOOC-CH-(NH2)-(CH2)3-, X-C6H4-CHY- in which X is H, halogen OH, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy or amino gp. and Y is OH, amino, carboxy or sulphone gp; R' is H, pivaloyloxymethyl, phthalidyl, benzhydryl, trichloroethyl, tert, butyl, benzyl, p-nitro-benzyl, p-halophenacyl or trimethylsilyd and R5 (same or different) are H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl, CN, thiocyanide, carboxy, carboxamido, OH, akoxy, thiol, alkylthio, amino, alkylamino or phenylamino gp. The cpds. (I) have a good action against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and are suitable for the treatment of infectious diseases. They have excellent resistance to beta-lactamase enzymes (e.g. enzymes from E. cloascae and E. coli.).
