PURPOSE:To obtain a titled resin having excellent workability and impact resistance and almost free from strains due to polymerization by copolymerizing a specific carbonate compd. and a monofunctional monomer having an aromatic ring whose monopolymer has a high refractive index and which can be radically polymerized. CONSTITUTION:(A) a carbonate compd. expressed by formula I (X is H, chlorine, or bromine, and R is H or methyl) and (B) a monofunctional monomer expressed by formula II [Y is a group expressed by formula III, formula IV, etc., (q) is 0- 5, and (r) is 0.1] having an aromatic ring whose monopolymer has >=1.55 refractive index and which can be radically polymerized are copolymerized to obtain the desired resin for a high-refractive index lens having a structural unit expresed by formulas V and VI. 4,4'-Isopropylidenediphenyl-bisallylcarbonate can be mentioned as an embodiment of the component A, and 2-chlorobenzoic acid vinylester as an embodiment of the component B.
