PURPOSE:To suppress noise caused by inductive frequencies by setting one irradiating time of continuous laser light on a prescribed cycle shorter than the basic cycle of the inductive frequencies in a self-coupling type optical pickup. CONSTITUTION:The laser light from an edge surface 31a of a laser diode 31 is irradiated to an optical recording medium 10, and the reflected light is detected by a photo detector 32 facing an edge surface 31b of the diode 31. The diode 31 is driven by a pulse at a prescribed cycle generated by a pulse generator 48, and the one irradiating time of the laser light is set shorter than the basic cycle of the inductive frequencies by means of the reflected laser light from the medium. Thus, the noise caused by the return light inductive frequencies can be suppressed. |
