In an air valve for mounting in floors or walls, which is designed in particular for use in ventilation installations which work according to the displacement principle, the aim was to ensure an adequate fresh air supply even under difficult conditions and moreover to ensure optimally uniform distribution of the air flow over the cross-sectional area of the air valve. An air valve which achieves this object comprises one or more grate-shaped elements 2 for mounting in an air admission opening, which elements 2 are designed with inlet and outlet openings 5 and 6 for fresh air. The air valve is characterized in that the inlet openings 5 are connected, via narrow longitudinal inflow chambers 7, to broad longitudinal chambers 8, air flow-deflecting wall parts 4'' of the element 2 being arranged directly above said narrow longitudinal inflow chambers 7 in such a manner that turbulent flows arise in said broad longitudinal chambers 8 before the air is released through the outlet openings 6 to the room. <IMAGE> |
