PURPOSE: To provide an improved silencer for centrifugal compressor of high durability at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: A silencer device 17 to be mounted on the exhaust pipe 11 of a centrifugal compressor 12 uses a sound absorbing material, which is compressed previously for preventing errosion. A frame 18 having a certain internal thickness and an opening at one end is provided for the exhaust pipe 11, and one end of a damper package including absorbing fiber glass having a protecting member surrounding is compressed until the thickness becomes smaller than the internal thickness of the frame, and the compressed end is inserted into the open end of the frame. The remainder of the damper package is intruded into the frame so that the package is compressed into the specified internal thickness of the frame over the whole length and the surrounded fiber glass material is thereby compressed in a preload condition. |
