PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum foil which is used as the electrode of an electrolytic capacitor and capable of improving the electrolytic capacitor in electrostatic capacitance. SOLUTION: An aluminum foil is formed of aluminum of purity 99.9% or above and contains 5 to 100ppm of Cu and 10 to 300ppm of Ag, and CCu and CAg are so set as to satisfy a formula, 50ppm<=3.75×CCu +CAg <=450ppm, where CCu and CAg denote Cu content and Ag content respectively. Or, an aluminum foil contains one or more elements selected out of 1 to 50ppm of Zn, 1 to 50ppm of Ga, 5 to 60ppm of Fe, and 5 to 80ppm of Si besides Cu and Ag.
