PURPOSE:To enhance strength and fracture toughness by incorporating long oxide ceramic fibers into crystallized glass as a matrix. CONSTITUTION:Continuous fibers or long fibers of ceramic are impregnated with molten glass of crystallized glass and the molten glass is crystallized to obtain a ceramic composite material. The crystallized glass is preferably Li2O-SiO2-Al2O3, Na2O-Al2O3-SiO2, Na2O-CaO-MgO-SiO2, MgO-Al2O3-SiO2, PbO- ZnO-B2O3, ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 or SiO2-B2O3-Al2O3-MgO-K2O-F. Oxide ceramic fibers contg. >=10wt.% oxygen such as Al2O3 or ZrO2 fibers are preferably used as the ceramic fibers. |
