PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially and advantageously obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for cephem-based antibiotic substances at a relatively low cost by protecting amino with a carbamate using a specific acyl compound in the presence of a specified catalyst and then hydrolyzing the resultant ester. SOLUTION: (A) A compound represented by formula I [R<1> is a (benzoyl) alkyl, an aryl, etc.; R<2> is an alkyl, an aralkyl, an aryl, etc.] is reacted with (B) a compound represented by formula II (R<4> is an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aralkyl, etc.) in the presence of (C) an organic basic catalyst such as imidazoles, 4- dialkylaminopyridines or diazabicyclos to provide a compound represented by formula III, which is then hydrolyzed with an alkali by using sodium hydroxide, etc., to afford a compound represented by formula IV (X is an alkali metal). |
