PURPOSE:To readily obtain high-strength carbon material by coating the surface of infusible phenol resin powder with a fusible phenol resin by dry blend by a mechanochemical method and then forming and curing the resin-coated powder under pressure and burning and carbonizing cured resin article. CONSTITUTION:A powdery or spheroidal infusible phenol resin is subjected to dry blending with powdery or sheroidal fusible phenol resin by a mechanochemical method and the surface of the infusible phenol resin is coated with a fusible phenol resin. Furthermore, the dry blending is preferably carried out under pressure of 0.2-2kg/cm<2> using a tumbling mill. Then the phenol resin is formed and cured under pressure and then burned and carbonized to provide the carbon material. Thereby the aimed carbon material can be readily produced from a dense carbon material to a porous material in simple process and high- strength carbon material can be produced. |
