PURPOSE:To provide a ball forming apparatus for use in a wire bonder whereby a stable electrical discharge is ensured in order to form a ball with an optimum diameter. CONSTITUTION:A electrical discharge spark 2 is produced between a discharge electrode 19 and an auxiliary electrode 1, which is positioned in close proximity to the discharge electrode 19. This facilitates electrical discharge, whereby a stable electrical discharge is ensured without the interruption thereof even when there is a drop in the voltage between the discharge electrode 19 and a wire 17. |
