PURPOSE:To produce a beta-hydroxyketone compound in high yield while suppressing side reactions essentially without generating waste water by batch process or continuous process having excellent operability. CONSTITUTION:A beta-hydroxyketone compound is produced by the condensation reaction of formaldehyde and a ketone. In the above process, the supply of the formaldehyde is carried out in the form of a mixed liquid produced by condensing a thermal decomposition gas of paraformaldehyde diluted with vapor of ketone, a mixed liquid produced by dissolving paraformaldehyde in a ketone or a dispersion liquid produced by dispersing paraformaldehyde in ketone in the form of fine particles. |
