The sheets (1) to be printed are delivered from a stack to the press by a feed mechanism which can be cut in and out. The mechanism is cut in with the press running at a low basic speed, after which it is accelerated. The point in time to start the run-up to the intended production speed is determined dependent on the number of press revolutions necessary to deliver the first sheet from the stack to inside the press. Typically the predetermined point is the first printing zone. The system ensures that, after cutting the sheet-feed in, the first sheet does not reach the predetermined position inside the press until or after production speed has been reached. |
