The receptacle includes a container (12) for the particulate matter. The container has an opening with a flange (14) which simplifies the attachment of the receptacle to a reproducing apparatus. A movable lid (40) is held by the flange and can be brought selectively into a first position in which the opening is covered and a second position in which the opening is uncovered. In the second position, the lid is held releasably in a position outside its movement space.
