A door lock for a domestic electrical apparatus, especially a dish washer, has a frame (10) with an opening (36) for a hook (38). It has a closing lever (12), in the frame and a closing spring (16) which is located between the closing member and an abutment (18) in the frame. The closing spring is tensioned in an open position of the door lock. The door lock has a movable gripping device (20) joined to the closing member which is pressed against a part (26) of the frame or in the frame by the closing spring at a contact point (28) in the open position of the door lock. It thus prevents the release of the spring. The gripping device has a gripping latch (34) into which the hook can be introduced through the opening in the frame. It has a contact surface (42) on which the incoming hook presses and thus causes a movement of the gripping device. The gripping device is shaped so that it loses contact with the contact point with a movement and thus can release the closing spring.
