摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sustain thermit reaction without heating from the outside by continuously or intermittently feeding a granularly comminuted thermit agent onto waste fed into a melting part separately from the waste. SOLUTION: Powdery or granular waste is fed from a waste feeding part 9 into a furnace chamber 4. At the time when a mountain H of the waste is formed on a hearth 5, a granular thermit agent is continuously or intermittently fed from a thermit agent feeding part 8 onto the slope of the mountain H on the downstream side and the thermit agent is ignited from a work hole 10 to initiate thermit reaction. The waste is melted at a part M near the thermit agent dropping position, becomes molten slag and begins to flow down on the hearth 5 toward the downstream side. Since the thermit agent is fed without mixing with the waste, aluminum particles and metal oxide particles contained in the thermit agent come in good contact with one another, accordingly high reaction efficiency is attained and the reaction can be sustained without heating from the outside.
