PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vibration-damping apparatus being inexpensive and with excellent quality wherein damper performances wherein sliding characteristics between a slider and a cap body sliding the inner face of the slider, i.e., damper force are hardly influenced by the used environmental temp. even when the used environmental temp. is changed, is obtd. and damping force is effectively worked and sound of collision caused by unbalance when the number of rotation corresponding to a resonance frequency passes and movement of the main body are eliminated, in the vibration-damping apparatus for a washing mashine for supporting hanging down and vibration damping of a basket by means of a supporting rod from the top part of the washing machine main body through a suspension. SOLUTION: A basket is hung and vibration-proofly supported from the top part of the washing machine main body through a suspension 21 and the suspension 21 is covered by a cylindrical slider 20 through which a supporting rod 18 is passed and a cap body 19 sliding on the inner face of the slider 20 is provided on the bottom end part of the supporting rod 18. The cylindrical slider 20 and the cap body 19 are formed of different kinds of resin materials with approximately the same coefficient of linear thermal expansion.
