PURPOSE:To always enable good supercharging operation in a wide operating range by arranging two exhaust turbochargers different in capacity in parallel and making the ratio of flow characteristics of two turbines substantially agree with the ratio of surging flow characteristics of corresponding compressors. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust pipe 8 of an engine 1 is divided into two parts. A turbine 5 of an exhaust turbocharger 2 with a smaller capacity is disposed in one branch exhaust pipe 8a and a turbine 7 of an exhaust turbocharger 3 with a larger capacity is disposed in the other branch exhaust pipe 8b through a valve hole 14. Similarly, an intake pipe 9 is also divided into two parts, and compressors 4, 6 of the respective superchargers 2, 3 are respectively disposed in branch intake pipes 9a, 9b. In this case, the ratio of flow characteristics of the turbines 5, 7 in the respective supercharges 2, 3 is made substantially agree with the ratio of surging flow characteristics of two corresponding compressors 4, 6. Thus, the compressors 4, 6 of the respective superchargers 2, 3 are prevented from rushing in the surging region. |
