PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment method which effectively utilizes dechlorinating, bacteria removing and alkalinizing functions of a wood or bamboo material, can perform the dechlorinating, bacteria removing and alkalinizing treatments of tap water only by the continuous passage of tap water through it and thus is capable of treating tap water continuously at a low cost. SOLUTION: Either one of or both of fine rod-shaped woods 7 or bamboo materials 8 from which nodes are removed are bundled so that the length direction of them is set along the water flowing direction in a case 4 having tap water inflow and outflow ports 2, 3 respectively provided to the ends thereof to be housed in the case 4. Tap water flows through the case 4 from the inflow port 2 to the outflow port 3 while comes into contact with the woods 7 or bamboo materials 8 to be continuously treated by the dechlorinating, bacteria removing and alkalinizing functions possessed by the woods 7 or bamboo materials 8.
