PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a high purity oxygen by taking out a fourth oxygen- enriched flow at a bottom of an argon column having a bottom reboiler to be heated by a flow of a gas. SOLUTION: A flow 33 of a first argon-enriched liquid of a liquid containing 3 to 12 mol% of argon is extracted above a flow 31 of a bottom. The flow 33 mainly containing an oxygen and the argon is expanded by a valve, and then sent in a liquid-like state to an intermediate level of an argon column 104. Then, the flow is separated to a flow 80 of the argon at a top and a fourth oxygen-enriched flow 36 at a bottom. Thus, only the flow of the liquid containing at the most 2% of a content of the gaseous component is supplied to the argon column. The flow 36 of the liquid is fed under the pressure of the flow 31 by a pump, and mixed with the flow 31.
