PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact absorbing member and a bumper capable of reducing damage to an other automobile and absorbing sufficient impact energy at the same time without increasing an installation space. SOLUTION: A crash box 17 included a hollow body 23 having an approximately constant cross section and extending an axis to a front and back direction of a vehicle, and first and second flanges 24, 25 provided on the hollow body 23 approximately along the axis. Amounts of projections of the first and second flanges 24, 25 gradually increase from a one side to an other side of the axis.
