PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device for vehicle of a new structure, while securing sufficient durability at a contact part of an independent mass member and a vibrating member, capable of setting small spring rigidity of the contact part so that vibration damping effect provided on the basis of contact of the independent mass member to the vibrating member can be easily tuned especially to a low frequency range. SOLUTION: The contact part on a side of the vibrating member 12 is formed of an elastic material 28 which is severed and deformed by a load in a contact direction of the mass member 16.
