PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment device which is capable of performing garbage drying treatment in a short time and remarkably reducing the energy consumption. SOLUTION: This garbage treatment device comprises a combustion section 11, a deodorization/(heat exchange) section 12, a preheating heat exchanger 13 for subjecting an inflow gas flowing through an inflow port 14 of the deodorization/(heat exchange) section 12 and an outflow gas flowing through an outflow port 15 of the deodorization/(heat exchange) section 12 to heat- exchange with each other, a drying treatment section 16, and passageways for connecting these sections 11, 12, 13, and 16 with each other, wherein any odorous component in the whole of air to be discharged to the outside is decomposed in the deodorization/(heat exchange) section 12 and the deodorization temperature in the deodorization/(heat exchange) section 12 can be maintained at a high temperature by the preheating heat exchanger 13. Thus, the device is capable of completely decomposing such odorous components, concurrently lowering the off-gas temperature and accordingly, reducing the input energy.
