PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject new protein, having an affinity for a cell wall of Staphylococcus aureuses and useful for a bioluminescent analytical method, etc., useful for the Staphylococcus aureus by linking a luciferase peptide part to a lysostaphin peptide part. SOLUTION: This new luciferase-lysostaphin fused protein is prepared by linking a peptide part comprising luciferase to a peptide part comprising lysostaphin. The lysostaphin part has a strong affinity for a cell wall of Staphylococcus aureus or a bacteria of the same genus and is used for a bioluminescent analytical method, etc., useful for a detecting method, etc., for the Staphylococcus aureus including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) which is a causative bacterium of nosocomial infectious diseases. The fused protein is obtained by culturing a mucroorganism, belonging to the genus Escherichia and containing a recombinant DNA containing a fused gene in which a gene capable of coding the luciferase is linked to a gene capable of coding the lysostaphin in a culture medium and then collecting the resultant product from a cultured product. |
