PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for taking troublesome synchronization by synthesizing optically left and right images so as to use one signal processing system enough for succeeding signal processing at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the case of conducting stereoscopic display in the stereo television system, picked-up images through two left/right lenses are compressed into a half only in a horizontal or vertical direction optically by using a semicylindrical lens 7 or its equivalent optical component, and the compressed left and right images through the lenses 12, 13 are synthesized into one image adjacent to each other in the horizontal or vertical direction. |
