PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map information updating system that enables easy recognition of what benefits are provided to a user by the updating of map information that is stored in a navigation system. SOLUTION: When a CPU 11 of a map information distribution center 3 receives travel history data together with an update request for navigation map information 37A, based on the newest version of map information or the like contained in update map information 14A, the CPU retrieves routes that correspond to the "departure point" and the "destination point" of each of the routes traveled in the past on the basis of the received travel history data. A travel information comparison table 52 is produced based on the route information for each of the retrieved routes. The CPU 11 then compares the "post-update map retrieval" and the "pre-update map retrieval" of the travel information comparison table 52 for each entry, selects several cases starting from the superior cases in order of most improved effect, produces "display data" that display the results, and transmits the results to the navigation apparatus 2 (S111 to S116).
