PROCESS FOR DEVELOPING MACHINING MOLDS MADE WITH SAND AND RESINS FOR METAL CASTING.

The present disclosure is related to a process for developing machining molds made of sand and resins for metal casting which includes obtaining an optimal mixture of silica sand and phenolic resins to guarantee the improved machinability of the produced molds based on the machining parameters obtained as a result of the developed research. The first step comprises obtaining the optimum mixture of resins starting with values that are used commercially and the proportions were subsequently varied until the final mixture was obtained. With the machining process the result was very similar: the rotation revolutions and the feed rates also varied until the molds were machined accurately without any loosening of sand which could cause serious damage to the workpiece or the rejection of the same.
