PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective skin barrier function improving agent.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a skin barrier function improving agent containing a pine bark treated product; a skin barrier function improving agent that activates TRPV4 by accelerating the expression of TRPV4 gene and promotes a formation of an intercellular adhesion structure in the skin, particularly epidermis, specifically, the formation of a tight junction, by accelerating the increase of a calcium ion concentration in keratinocytes; and a skin barrier function improving agent improving a skin barrier function also by accelerating sebum production.
