PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain porous ceramic used as a organic material for medicaluse. SOLUTION: This porous ceramic compact is made of a sintered porous body of a calcium phosphate compd. contg. spherical or cocoon-like secondary particles 1 consisting essentially of fibrous hydroxyapatite crystal grains as primary particles. Since the surface of each of the secondary particles 1 has echinulate fibers, the surfaces of the particles 1 are in contact with one another at many contact points and the particles 1 are deformed or overlapped with one another to form a three-dimensionally and tightly fixed matrix structure. Gaps 3 formed among the particles 1 in the matrix structure open to the outside.
