PRODUCTION OF VITREOUS CARBON MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method of a vitreous carbon material by which production of cracks can be prevented and the production yield and cleaning property of a forming die can be improved. SOLUTION: A liquid thermosetting resin is hardened in a molding die 3 at <100 deg.C to obtain a planer hardened resin. The planer hardened resin 5 released from the die 3 is held between a holding means 20a which has pressing faces 20a' to be in contact with both surfaces of the planer resin 5 in such a manner that the distance between the pressing faces 20a' can be changed according to changes in the thickness of the planer hardened resin 5. The planer hardened resin 5 as held is further hardened at >=100 deg.C, and the hardened planer hardened resin 5 is calcined.
