Disclosed by the present invention are an apparatus and a method to control a vehicle by monitoring the state of a driver. The vehicle controlling method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an area setting step of setting the first steering control area, first steering warning area, brake control area, and first brake warning area of a vehicle; a driver state determining step of determining the state of a driver by monitoring the state of the driver; and an area resetting step of setting a second steering control area, a second steering warning area, and a second brake warning area by resetting the first steering control area, first steering warning area, and first brake warning area of the vehicle set in the area setting step if the state of the driver is determined to be abnormal by the result of the drive state determining step. |
