A discharge lamp driving device comprising: a discharge lamp driving unit configured to supply a drive current to a discharge lamp; a control unit configured to control the discharge lamp driving unit; and a voltage detection unit configured to detect an inter-electrode voltage of the discharge lamp, wherein the control unit performs a first discharge lamp driving in which a first control and a second control for supplying the drive current including a DC current and an AC current to the discharge lamp are performed, anda second discharge lamp driving in which a third control and a fourth control for supplying the drive current including the DC current and the AC current to the discharge lamp are performed, in the first discharge lamp driving, the control unit performs the first control in a case where the inter-electrode voltage is equal to or lower than a first threshold voltage at a predetermined set timing, and performs the second control in a case where the inter-electrode voltage is higher than the first threshold voltage at the predetermined set timing, in the second discharge lamp driving, the control unit performs the third control in a case where the inter-electrode voltage is equal to or lower than a second threshold voltage that is higher than the first threshold voltage at a predetermined set timing, and performs the fourth control in a case where the inter-electrode voltage is higher than the second threshold voltage at the predetermined set timing, a ratio of the DC current in the second control is higher than a ratio of the DC current in the first control, a ratio of the DC current in the fourth control is higher than a ratio of the DC current in the third control and is higher than the ratio of the DC current in the second control, and in the second discharge lamp driving, the control unit performs a transition from the second discharge lamp driving to the first discharge lamp driving in a case where the inter-electrode voltage is lower than a first reverse transition voltage that is lower than the second threshold voltage.
