855,260. Making interdigital delay lines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. Sept. 10, 1959 [Feb. 10, 1958], No. 4684/59. Class 83 (2). A method of making a comb-like member A or B for an interdigital delay line comprises making a stack of plates, one set of alternate plates 1 being of a metal, e.g. copper and the other set of alternate plates 2 being of a different material, e.g. steel, binding the plates together by depositing a layer 5 of metal different from the material of the plates 2, cutting from one side of the stack, along a line 6, a sheet including portions of all the plates in the stack held together by the deposited metal and then dissolving away the portions of the plates 2. Unwanted portions of the deposited layer 5 are cut away and the remaining comb-like structure is sintered. Prior to depositing the layer 5 the stack is held together as by a tie-rod 3. A number of combs may be formed by cutting successive sheets from the stack. |
