A combined cylinder head and discharge silencer for the cylinder 6 of a reciprocating piston compressor comprises two brazed or soldered together sheet metal pressings 1, 2 defining silencer chambers 15, 17, and a third pressing 3 disposed between the pressings 1, 2 to define therewith suction chambers 23, 24 and a delivery chamber 13. Gas compressed in the cylinder 6 passes a discharge valve 32 into the chamber 13 and through a narrow duct 18 into the first silencer chamber 15. From the chamber 15 the gas flows through a throttle duct 29, in the form of a serpentine passage defined between the pressings 1, 3, and thence to the second silencer chamber 17 for discharge through a delivery pipe 20. Suction gas enters suction chambers 23, 24 from silencer chambers (not shown) on the side of the cylinder.</p> |
