In a machine tool means is provided to permit compensation for inaccuracies in the feed screws in the feed mechanisms of the tool slide which comprises a pair of parallel feed screws 14, 16 with their co-operating nuts 36, 38, the screws being driven from the machine spindle 26 through gearing at slightly different speeds so that the nuts traverse the screws at different velocities. Pivotally connected to the two nuts is a lever 42 which has a slot 48 positioned transversely to the screw axes. A slide block 51 connected to the tool slide 10 engages the slot and is adjustable longitudinally thereof so that the speed of traverse of the slide and tool may be adjusted in relation to the speeds of rotation of the screws. |
