PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deploy an air bag into a desired shape even when, during deployment of a side air bag, the upper part of the air bag is located at a position to interfere with a belt member. SOLUTION: In a passenger constraining device, provided with a seat belt device 1 and a side air bag 8, the seat belt device 1 comprises a belt member 2 mounted on a body of a passenger seating a seat 10; a tongue member 4 with which the belt member 2 is provided; and a buckle member 3 arranged on the car body side of a vehicle. The tongue member 4 is inserted in the buckle member 3. The side air bag 8 is developed between the inside wall of a car room and a passenger from the side part of a passenger toward a head part when a side collision load is exerted on a vehicle. The seat belt device 1 is provided with a unlocking means to release engagement between the tongue member 4 and the buckle member 3 when a side collision load is detected. |
