1,149,690. Dispensing labels. GUHL & SCHEIBLER A.G. 20 Sept., 1967 [29 Sept., 1966], No. 42866/67. Heading B8C. Gaps 14 (Fig. 4) between labels carried by a backing strip 12b are detected, to control the feed of the strip, by a feeler 8 connected by a linkage 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP>, to produce relative movement between a permanent magnet 9 and an electrical coil 10 to generate an electric pulse. In the form illustrated a motor (5) (Fig. 1, not shown) driving a spool (4) to draw the tape round a sharp edge 3 to detach the labels is switched, off when the feeler 8 falls between two labels and is switched on again when a feeler 11, which may be remote from the feeler 8, detects that the detached label has been removed. The sensing devices are shown mounted on a casing 2<SP>1</SP> which can be swung upwardly about a shaft 14 for access to the strip, and may also be moved axially. The casing is biased by an adjustable spring (not shown) to brake the movement of the strip. |
