Indole derivatives of the general formula wherein R is a methoxy or dimethylamino group, are prepared by reduction of an indole derivative of the general formula conversion of the resulting novel indole derivative of the general formula to a corresponding diazonium salt, e.g. by means of dilute hydrochloric acid and aqueous sodium nitrite, followed by replacement of the diazonium group by a chlorine atom, e.g. by treatment with cuprous chloride, copper powder or copperbronze powder and hydrochloric acid. |
