PURPOSE:To prevent the variations of speed due to slipping, etc., and to obtain glass wire having uniform diameter by vertically moving plural arms for holding glass wire free to open and close to pull up glass wire from a molten glass material in a heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:A holder 13 has the arms 16 for holding glass wire 6 at least at two upper and lower positions free to open and close, a blade 17 for cutting the wire 6 between the arms 16, and a mechanism 15 for simultaneously moving the arm 16 and blade 17 in the vertical and horizontal directions, and at least a couple of holders 13 are provided above the heating furnace 3. The glass material 4 is heated and melted in the furnace 3, and the couple of holders 13 are alternately used to pull up the wire 6 by the arms 16. As a result, since the holding part and wire 6 are not relatively moved, the variations in the pulling up speed due slipping, etc., can be prevented. |
