A one-piece plastic safety for an air operated pellet gun operable by cocking linkage to prevent inadvertent firing of the gun and being rotatable within a guideway and an access slot, during an assembly operation, between an assembly position permitting insertion and removal of the safety member and an assembled operating position frictionally resiliently retained in the guideway and slot and being slidable between a blocking position and a release position relative to the firing mechanism of the gun.
