<p>Finely divided sponge iron is passed through a preheating cyclone running on pre-reaction cyclone flue gas, after sepn. at the bottom of which it is suspended in the flue gas from a final reduction cyclone and is tangentially introduced into a pre-reduction cyclone, the solid outgoing material from which is suspended in the CO-flue gas from a melting and refining unit and then fed into the finish reduction cyclone, the solid outgoing material from this being charged into the melting and refining unit, whence the reducing gas is simultaneously produced by incomplete combustion of excess C, the final refining being done by O-lance blowing. The process is integral and has a very high thermal efficiency, yielding a high quality product.</p> |
