The polishing agent may be present in a ratio of 1:5 to 5:1 compared with the matrix. The yarn may be of cotton, silk, linen, nylon, polyester or acrylic fibres. The matrix may be applied to the yarn or filament by passing through a bath of the polymer solution, and then through a die or wire coater. The polishing agent may then be applied by passing the still wet filament through a solid or fluid bed of the particles, lengths of the floss may be left uncoated at regular intervals. Alternatively the particles may be mixed with the matrix material before application to the filament.</p> |
