<p>The handbrake control lever for the lorry and trailer is moved about the axis of the control valve on a guide slot to control the radial and axial movement of the valve elements. The lever is moved in a first part of the slot to progressively apply all the brakes of the lorry and trailer, with a stop to limit the lever movement. The stop can be lifted with a second control so that the lever moves in a second part of the guide in which only the lorry brakes are applied, in order to test those brakes. At the end of the guide all the brakes are again applied. The two stop positions, with all brakes applied represent a safety interlock for emergency braking, with the driver only having to pull the lever to its fullest setting.</p> |
