Amino-ethoxy-phenoxy-propanol(s) - useful as gastrointestinal smooth muscle inhibitors esp. as spasmolytics

Aminoethoxy phenoxy propanols of formla (I) (where R is t.-butyl and its salts with acids are new. (I) have an effect on the smooth muscle of the gastro-intestine. (I; R=o-t-butyl). HCl (Ia) has a strongly stimulating effect on the stomach, and can be used as an emetic 10 mu g/ml (Ia) is more effective than 100 mu g/ml metoclopramid. (I); R=p-t-butyl). HCl (Ib) has a strongly relaxing effect on the stomach and both (Ia) and (Ib) have a direct inhibitory effect on the smooth muscle without fastening on to the point of attack of cholinergic receptors (Ia) and esp. (Ib) can be used as spasmolytics in the intestine without atropin-like side effects. Specifically (I) are prepd. by reacting 3-phenoxy-propylene oxide with diethylamino ethanol.
