PURPOSE:To designate the name of a file by the mixed input of a pointing device and a key by dividing the display screen of a display device into two, making one an area capable of selecting icons of respective elements by the pointing device and the other an area capable of editing by a key input. CONSTITUTION:For instance, when a formed document is newly registered, if the life name of the document registered in a document registering means displayed on the pointing device area 31 of the display device 3 is designated by the use of the pointing device 21, the file name of the designated registered document is displayed on the key area 32 of the display device 3 by a display control editing means 4, edited according to the operation of a keyboard 22, a new file name is formed and the document formed by this file name is registered in the document registering means 1. Accordingly, it is not necessary to input all the names and the name of the file can be speedily and correctly designated.
