PURPOSE:To accurately measure the quantity of deflection of a traverse girder and the restoration time thereof within a short time, by mounting electric resistor type strain gauges under the ceiling traveling crane traverse girder in the longitudinal direction thereof at a predetermined interval. CONSTITUTION:At first, a traverse club is fixed to the central part of a traverse girder 2 in the longitudinal direction thereof and quantities of deflection are calculated at times when there is no load, and 1/2 rated load and rated load are hung up at respective measuring points. At the same time, the value of a strain gauge 12 when there is no load is adjusted to 0 to calculate the change values of the gauge 12 at times when the 1/2 rated load and the rated load are hung up by a recorder 18 and a correlation formula is obtained from deflection quantity (x) and a strain value (y). The presence of the abnormality of the quantity of deflection of the traverse girder is inspected using the formula by a method wherein the rated load is hung up at a predetermined position and the value of the mount position of the gauge 12 is read from the recorder 18 to calculate the quantity of deflection of the traverse girder. If this value is almost the same as each of preliminarily calculated values at all of measuring points, normality is judged and, when the value at a certain measuring point is high, it is judged that there is abnormality in the vicinity of said measuring point.
