Lightweight composite panel and process for the production thereof

In a lightweight composite panel 1 with a sound-absorbing effect, consisting of a lower cover layer 2, an upper cover layer 5 and a honeycomb core 3, at least one cover layer having openings, the invention consists in filling the hollow spaces of the honeycombs forming the core with a sound-absorbing foam 4, such as melamine foam, obtainable as a ready-to-use semi-finished product. In the process for the production thereof, the foam 4 is introduced by means of a brush-shaped device. As a result of this measure, those foams may be selected for filling the honeycombs which have low values with respect to smoke evolution and high values with respect to flame resistance and sound absorption. <IMAGE>
