PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a magnetic tape and to enhance its abration resistance by using a sintered body mainly consisting of a specific nonmagnetic oxide, whose crystal structure is in a spinel structure, and a titanium carbide for a head base material. CONSTITUTION:The title magnetic head for a magnetic tape uses head base materials 1A and 1B consisting of the nonmagnetic oxide having the spinel structure and the mixed sintered body of TiC. The nonmagnetic oxide has a composition expressed in a chemical formula MR2O4, M is consisting of one or two bivalent metals out of Mg, Ni, Zn and MnCo, and R consists of one or >= two trivalent metals out of Al, Cr and Fe. The TiC is contained at the ratio of >=5% of the total volume, and <=70%. That is, by mixing them, the head base material having the sufficient abration resistance and difficult to damage the magnetic head can be obtained. |
