A light ray concentrator has a shape (1) described by a generatrix, one end (4a) of which is in the form of a closed plane curve (3), preferably a circle or free form curve, and a second end (4b) of which is in the form of a polygon (5), preferably a rectangle. Preferably, the concentrator consists of an internally reflective metal tube or a transparent block of glass, methacrylate or polycarbonate. Also claimed is a system for projection across a valve, the system including the above concentrator located between the optical valve and a reflector used to reflect light from a lamp towards the optical valve.
