PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a disk-form recording medium having a format suitable to discriminate the kind of disk type and the kind of area, and a driving device corresponding to it. SOLUTION: It is arranged so that either the row style of a servo pit pattern appearing in each servo area in the radius direction of the disk viewing as track scanning position intervals by a laser spot or the row style of a servo out pattern appearing in each servo area aligning with circumferential direction of the disk or both represent the kind of the disk or the kind of the area on the disk. famely, it is made possible to discriminate the kind of disk and the kind of area by observing the change in the appearing pattern of a tracking servo pit. |
