PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print with an ink jet ink on a base material in a form that a printed image particularly has water resistance. SOLUTION: A printing coating contains a water base fluid dispersion having a cation polymer of about 2-40 dry weight % based on a dry weight of a coating composition and a non-ion or a cationic binder of about 60-98 dry weight % based on the dry weight of the coating composition. The coating composition is fusible with heat, receives the ink jet ink, and holds the ink jet ink after it is fused by heat. Or, the coating compound may contain a water base fluid dispersion having a powdery thermoplastic polymer and a binder of about 10-150 dry weight parts based on 100 dry weight parts of the polymer.
